Nestled among the top 40 cryptocurrencies by reported market cap, New Economy Movement — popularly known as NEM (XEM) – is a peer-to-peer (P2P), dual-layer blockchain smart contract platform written in one of the most influential programming languages, Java. NEM uses the proof-of-importance (POI) consensus algorithm that essentially values the tokens held and the activity conducted by the nodes on the blockchain network.
In this Altcoin Explorer, BTCManager delves deeper into the finer intricacies of the NEM blockchain protocol, including the project’s POI consensus algorithm, its native digital token XEM, and some of its real-world use-cases.
Without further ado, let’s get to the core of this high-performance distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform.

History of NEM

NEM was launched on March 31, 2015, with an aim to develop an enterprise-grade blockchain protocol that could circumvent the infamous trilemma of blockchain: scalability, speed, and privacy.
Operated by a Gibraltar-registered NEM Group, NEM is a fork-out version of the NXT blockchain. After the successful fork, the NEM community decided to build its ecosystem from the ground up and developed its own codebase to make the network more scalable and faster.
NEM’s insistence toward building its own tech infrastructure led to a DLT protocol that is unlike anything resembling other similar platforms.
Today, NEM ranks among the top go-to blockchain platforms for enterprises across the world, rivaling competing protocols including Ethereum (ETH), and TRON (TRX), among others.

NEM’s Proof-of-Importance (POI) Algorithm

Unlike Bitcoin’s (BTC) energy-intensive Proof-of-Work (PoW) and Ethereum’s yet-to-be-implemented Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm, NEM uses PoI consensus mechanism.
The PoI mechanism achieves consensus by incentivizing active user participation in the NEM network. This consensus infrastructure ensures an agile decentralized network by rewarding well-behaved nodes that not only possess a significant stake in the network but are also actively engaged in executing transactions to maintain the network’s robustness.
Specifically, each node in the network possesses an ‘Importance Score’ that impacts the number of times the said node can ‘Harvest’ the XEM altcoin.
Initially, when a user puts XEM tokens into their wallet, they are called ‘unvested coins.’ Over time, as the wallets start accumulating an increasing number of XEM and contribute to the network’s transaction volume, they start collecting importance scores. At the same time, the XEM tokens in these wallets change into ‘vested coins,’ provided that there are at least 10000 tokens in the wallet.
To put things into perspective, let’s take the help of a small example.
On day 1, Joe receives 50,000 XEM in his digital wallet. Now, with each passing day, the NEM network will ‘vest’ 10 percent of the tokens held by Joe. So, on day 2, 5,000 tokens held by Joe are vested into the network. On day 3, 10 percent of the remaining tokens – 15,000 XEM – get vested into the network, leaving Joe with 13,500 XEM, and so one. After a couple of days, Joe sees that the number of XEM vested by him has crossed the 10,000 coins threshold, thereby, making him eligible to seek rewards from the NEM blockchain for his contribution to vesting his tokens.
Close followers of blockchain projects would find the aforementioned network reward mechanism bear a close resemblance to the PoS consensus algorithm. However, it’s worthy of note that vesting coins is just one way of calculating a node’s importance score.
The NEM protocol also rewards nodes that are responsible for most activity on the network. In essence, this means that the higher the number of transactions executed by a node, the more likely it is to gain higher importance points. The balance between vesting XEM and network activity is an important metric to be maintained by NEM nodes as it directly impacts their likelihood of harvesting XEM.
NEM’s consensus algorithm does away with several issues plaguing the more energy-intensive protocols such as PoW. For instance, PoI does not necessarily require high-energy hardware to run the nodes. The decentralized nature of the algorithm means that almost any machine — irrespective of its tech configuration – can participate in the NEM ecosystem ensuring it remains decentralized.

NEM’s Native Digital Token — XEM

XEM, unlike the vast majority of other cryptocurrencies, isn’t mined or staked using Pow or PoS algorithms. Rather, as explained earlier, XEM is ‘harvested’ through the PoI algorithm which ensures a steady supply of the digital token without flooding the market and involving the risk of a dramatic crash in price.
Per data on CoinMarketCap, at the time of writing, XEM trades at $0.04 with a market cap of more than $382 million and a 24-hour trading volume of approximately $6.8 million. The coin reached its all-time high of $1.92 in January 2018.
A large number of reputable cryptocurrency exchanges trade XEM, including Binance, Upbit, OKEx, Bithumb, ProBit, among others. The digital token can be easily traded with BTC, ETH, and USDT trading pairs.
That said, if you wish to vest your XEM to partake in the maintenance of the NEM network and earn rewards, it is recommended you store your tokens in the official NEM Nano wallet for desktop and mobile OS. Only XEM tokens held in the official NEM Nano wallet are eligible for vesting.

NEM Use-Cases

To date, NEM has been deployed for various real-world applications with promising results.
In 2018, Ukraine launched a blockchain-based e-voting trial leveraging the NEM DLT platform.
At the time, Ukraine’s Central Election Commission – with the local NEM Foundation representation – estimated the test vote trial in each polling station could cost as low as $1,227. The organization’s Oleksandr Stelmakh lauded the efforts, saying that using a blockchain-powered voting mechanism would make it impossible for anyone to fiddle with the records. The Commission added that the NEM protocol presents information in a more user-friendly format for voters.
In the same year, Malaysia’s Ministry of Education launched an e-scroll system based on the NEM blockchain to tackle the menace of fake degrees. The University Degree Issuance and Verification System use the NEM blockchain which is interrogated upon scanning of a QR code printed on the degree certificate.
The Ministry added that one of the primary reasons for its decision to selected the NEM platform was its unique and cutting-edge features in managing traceability and authentication requirements.
On a recent note, the Bank of Lithuania announced that it would be issuing its NEM blockchain-powered digital collector’s coin (LBCoin) in July after the successful completion of its testing phase.

Final Thoughts

Summing up, NEM offers a wide array of in-house features that separate it from other blockchain projects in a space that is becoming increasingly congested. NEM’s creative PoI consensus algorithm is a fresh take on the PoS algorithm for performance enhancement. Further, the project’s newly launched enterprise-grade DLT solution, Symbol, offers a tremendous option to businesses to help them cut costs, reduce complexities, and streamline innovation.
NEM uses the Java programming language that makes it an easy project for developers to get involved with, unlike other projects such as Ethereum that use platform-specific programming languages like Solidity. The project’s tech infrastructure not only makes it less power-intensive compared to Bitcoin but also more scalable than its rival projects including Ethereum and NEO.
NEM’s tagline, “Smart Asset Blockchain, Built for Performance,” perfectly captures everything the project has to offer. Over the years, NEM’s active developer community has craftily addressed the notorious bottlenecks in the vast majority of blockchain solutions, The future looks promising for NEM as it continues to foster a trustless and blockchain-driven economy for tomorrow.

Concerns on DeFi

Hello,
Just wanted to share some of my legitimate concerns around decentralised finance with the broader community. To be quite clear - I am a huge fan of Ethereum and DeFi and believe this could lead to the future of finance. However, I do worry if there is a circle jerk within the community that could lead to a lack of adoption in the coming months. I will try and keep this as short as possible. By all means, do understand I am coming from the pov of sharing constructive criticism and not dissing on the efforts of those building.
If you are solving for these problems in particular, please ping me and I'd love to talk further with you
  1. On-ramps The largest problem for much of the developing world is the fact that while DAI can without doubt give dollar exposure, acquiring them is quite a difficult task. In fact if DAI demand goes up substantially in a region, it could have premiums of upto 25% which makes it a bad on-ramp tool without necessary liquidity in place. (check Wazir X p2p USDT rates in India for context). This problem is not endemic to DAI alone but is applicable to stable tokens of all kinds. With regional regulations in nations like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Phillipines, Malaysia and India not being clear on stable tokens in particular, it becomes an uphill task for developers to build on it. More importantly, it becomes less appealing for the average individual to use. Now typically this wouldnt matter if the point of DeFi was to be a niche project aimed at a small community. However, DeFi has the power to be the first mass market blockchain tool for the world. Consider it to be the "e-mail" or "napster" moment for blockchain based applications. IF we are to scale then on-ramps and off-ramps need to be solved for. This can happen only and if the community begins engaging with regional regulators and exchanges begin providing solutions. In an ideal world, acquiring stable tokens should be as easy as venmo'ing someone $10 dollar and receiving say $9.90 (1% fee) in Incento (incento.io seems interesting, not shilling but do check them out!)
  2. Incumbent Efficiency In order for a system to scale past a certain point, the value add it brings needs to be considerably higher than the incumbent. Depending on the size of the remittance market, there exists multiple payments and wire transfer corridors set up by startups today to solve for quick transfers. In fact during times when a blockchain like those of Ethereum's or Bitcoin's are clogged - transferwise can prove to be a cheaper, better alternative than tokens. This is not to diss on the fact that decentralisation and immutability has a price attached to them, but for the average user today alternatives are far better than token based products. The challenge when it comes to scaling - especially towards L2 is whether products can be incrementally better than their incumbents in exchange for some trade offs (eg: relative centralisation in lightning for minimal fees and quicker confirmation). Today's DeFi apps have to make a call between being ideological and efficient because it seems there is a price attached to ideology and retail users aren't willing to pay that price.
  3. Slippage Much props to Kyber and Uniswap for solving for this on most DeFi apps but there remains challenges in how settlements for defi instruments today happen. As the scale of volume on products like DyDx and Nuo increase and the expected accuracy at which trade settlements are anticipated to be limited to, there will come a point in time where traditional market-makers will have to enter the system. At $500 million the DeFi space's largest traders constantly reel from price slippages and a lack of liquidity. How can we scale to $10 billion or $1 trillion without the kind of liquidity that could instill confidence in large whales. In order to solve this, there will come a point in time where hedge funds and dark pool service providers from traditional markets begin targetting DeFi instruments. The community will likely see this as an all out assault on the principles DeFi has been built upon but to be honest, this will be a quintessential requirement for the space to grow. We are seeing an early variant of this already with the likes of Cred raising $50 million to re-issue as debt (yes, not entirely DeFi) or with MakerDAO having VC partners that come from traditional backgrounds. Even in the case of products like Dharma and compound, the market-makers are hedge funds. We will see a convergence of traditional market products and DeFi soon. That will be an exciting phase imo.
  4. Product-Market Fit Debt is one of the oldest financial innovations in the markets. Quite literally. Some of the first ever tablets recorded debt obligations and as such have been quintessential to the growth of human civilisation. MakerDAO's proposition of issuing token backed debt is by all means revolutionary but in order to see true scale, DeFi has to grow beyond the individuals that can give assets as collateral. I reckon there will be a new layer of growth for DeFi soon that will be powered with open-data and AI. One where an individual's credit worthiness could be checked with the individual's permission on basis of on-chain tx activity and self sovereign identity. I also see a market for AI based lending rate predictions and forex management by central banks. Autonomous agents can realistically analyse tx's in and out of a country, account for macro-economic indicators and optimise internal lending rates and foreign currency reserves. Ofcourse it is too early for any of this to take place but within the next decade our markets will be far more (i) closer due to globalisation and (ii) automated due to improvements in AI. DeFi is all well and good but if we are going to beat the same old drums of economic instruments that were created thousands of years back, there may be no real value proposition here. LsDAI, rDAI, CDAI, DAI... are all interesting but the average user sees no value yet. Which makes me wonder if we are sitting around patting each other's back before we see something productive (a unicorn from the DeFi ecosystem perhaps?)
  5. Scale 4.5 billion. That's the number of unbanked individuals that can be catered to with an L2 payments solution powered by Ethereum. Challenges? On-ramp, storage of private keys, user education and bloody hell - marketing and user education. Emphasis on the last 2 because I feel not much focus is given on it. We can no longer build and hope the markets come. We are in an era of Zombie startups where startups with north of $100 million+ valuations in Mcap, that raised north of $10million in 2017 from ICOs are sitting on ~1000 users a month. People think the alts blood seepage is done but it is likely that that bleeding wont stop until we find users. And when we do find users, we cant expect them to be using a gazillion tokens, each with weird token economics and even more complex functioning to be using them. Standardising of token interactions through wallets and interoperability will solve for these challenges but its time we asked what are the biggest problems DeFi can solve today? Here are some hints.. NFT based Income share agreements -Non collateralised debt for gig economy corporations that are registered as DAOs -DAO treasury management -Forex off-ramps for tourists (P2P) More on these later..
Just wanted to share my $0.02.

BNC public chain officially launched on March 19

BNC public chain officially launched on March 19
According to the official BNC public chain, they will be launching synchronous on 19th March globally in nine countries (China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines and Brunei) and 30 communities. This cause strong attention within the industry, especially attention to value and ecology of Proof-of-Capacity (PoC) from blockchain experts. Website and forum in Europe, America and Southeast Asia have a hot pursuit of BNC, hundreds of media vying for coverage. At the same time, attention of BNC is rising because of Proof-of-Capacity (PoC) technology development have a worldwide boom.

https://preview.redd.it/jcseqh15cem41.png?width=559&format=png&auto=webp&s=cef25e0877980f50d7c565eff679c502be62b163
Easy to say, nature of PoC is mining through hard disk, PoW is mining through CPU (or graphics cards, ASIC, these are stronger computing chips, PoS is mining through the proportion of cryptocurrency holdings, while DPoS is voting to decide super node.

https://preview.redd.it/c2kwytw8cem41.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=169a41f4c4577049ea799b61a14827b2f29fc715
Our main character today PoC has something in common with Bitcoin PoW, but there are some substantive differences. As we know, Bitcoin PoW requires miners to perform hash calculations continuously and repeatedly. miners need to run their computing chips with high intensity and consume extremely high power resources.
BNC will change the pyramid situation that BTC facing at present: The high monopoly of the big mining farm caused the increasing centralization of mines leading to monopolization of large households and national policy pressures.
Large electricity consumption and noise and heat from mining machines do not meet environmental restrictions in more than 159 countries so the whole mining was ruled by the elite. As a result, ordinary users can't participate in BTC's decision-making at all.
BNC's ultimate dream is to focus on the pain of the existing market, achieve low threshold entry mining for everyone! Everyone mining!

https://preview.redd.it/r3rl26vbcem41.png?width=436&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c3d1377febf5993b1158c24a8f5a0c961f15d4a
Computing power cost is also one of the important indexes of mining revenue. Computing power cost include competition for performance and equipment, mining machine's computing power determined the day's mining earnings. Quality of PoW machine depends on computing power, but the higher the power, the higher the price. The impact of a mining machine worth tens of thousands on the return cycle is also significant. The greater the computing power, the greater the energy consumption. Electricity consumption of mining is staggering, so mining farm have to relocate to low electricity fees area, but a lot of power is wasted. By comparison, power consumption of BNC hard disk is lower, energy consumption is the same as running a computer.

After the industry goes through the bull bear cycle, heat and cold alternate reshuffle period, PoC hard disk mining direction effect will become more and more obvious. Failure to focus on compliance, lack of quality asset-selection capabilities, lack of technology build-up and business innovation capabilities will be difficult to survive.
BNC cling to the front of the times, each time the layout is only for better brilliance. At a time when the mature Internet is combined with blockchain, BNC will create a new wave of wealth, bring more investors to believe that everyone can mining, every investor in cryptocurrency is back at the top of wealth. A Letter to CoinEx Users from Haipo Yang in 2020

A Letter to CoinEx Users from Haipo Yang in 2020
Dear CoinEx Users:
I am Haipo, CEO of CoinEx. The Chinese New Year has just passed and the coronavirus outbreak casts a shadow on society and our hearts. At this moment, I sincerely hope that everyone stay safe and healthy.
From December 24, 2017 to today, CoinEx has been with you for more than two years. Having experienced a rebirth in 2018, CoinEx embarked on a new journey since last year. “Do something that can change the real world with the blockchain.” This is my original intention to create CoinEx, and I hope more people will get to know blockchain through CoinEx. CoinEx always bears in mind the ambition of putting the blockchain to good use and making the world better.
2019 witnessed how CoinEx consolidated the foundation for its ambitions. CoinEx Accelerators, futures, options, CoinEx Lending, CoinEx DEX, CoinEx Chain, the key account privilege system, and a new value system for CET… We have completed what may take others four or five years, but we also know that a complete ecosystem is the first step to achieve our ambitions. CoinEx still has a long way to go, and what we are doing now is just a small part.
With the arrival of 2020, the blockchain world has embraced its eleventh year, and CoinEx has also ushered in its third year of growth. I am very grateful to every user who has always been supporting CoinEx. It is your encouragement along the way that makes it possible for me to share with you our progress in 2019 and look into 2020. Now I’m going to explain to you in details of what CoinEx has gone through in the past year and every new breakthrough it has achieved.

First, users are our first priority: 24-hour online customer service and key account privileges

“Users first” is the service principle that CoinEx has always implemented, and the ultimate product experience is our basic practice in abiding by this concept.
As the chief product experience officer of CoinEx, I deliver one idea to the team on many occasions, that is, the most important for a product developer is the ability of instantly changing from an expert to a novice so that he or she can judge and design the product from users’ perspective. We want CoinEx to be a product that can be operated with ease even by a novice and a digital asset service platform that serves as a wallet. I believe that’s exactly what CoinEx means to its users as we really did it.
In addition, in order to serve users around the world, we have launched versions of ten languages, respectively Arabic, Italian, Malaysia, German, Ukraine, Portuguese, French, Turkish, Vietnamese and Indonesian, in 2019. CoinEx has become a global trading platform with the most languages.
High-quality and efficient service represents our efforts to implement the “users first” concept.
In 2019, CoinEx’s global customer service team expanded four times on the original basis, and gradually improved the customer service system in practice. At CoinEx, every customer service personnel must be strictly selected and trained from interview to induction. We strive to ensure that each customer service personnel can be timely, meticulous and professional in answering users’ questions so that our users can enjoy high-quality services. As long as you have any doubt, the CoinEx customer service team will be there for you around the clock.
On September 26, 2019, after months of user surveys and reference to the VIP service cases of hundreds of Fortune 500 companies, we officially launched a privilege program for key users. We must never be unworthy of every user’s trust, and we want every key user to enjoy his or her privileges at CoinEx. In addition to basic customer service, we provide them with “customized fast services” and “customized value-added services” from three aspects: the account, transaction, and service.

Second, build a complete product system: spot, futures, leveraged trading, options, perpetual contracts, CoinEx Lending, and Accelerator

In order to meet users’ diversified trading needs, we have refined our products carefully, and now we have established a complete product system covering spot, futures, leverage, options, perpetual contracts, wealth management products, and high-quality project accelerators.
Spot Trading
To enrich the asset classes of the spot market, the CoinEx Research Institute has dedicated itself to exploring and screening of global blockchain projects last year. At the end of 2019, there were 100 asset classes on CoinEx, a success in fulfilling the target set at the beginning of the year.
For trading depth, we have introduced preferential policies for market makers, which is to cooperate with excellent quantitative teams in the market and run operating campaigns to increase our asset liquidity.
Futures Trading
On July 15, 2019, we launched a new trading service — futures contracts, and opened five major trading markets: Binance Coin, Huobi Token, OKB, Polkadot, and Telegram Open Network. At the same time, our original Call Auction along with Short-term/Long-term price limit ensures the stability of Futures market and large fluctuations in futures prices can be avoided.
Leverage Trading
In 2019, we launched a leverage trading function that allows users to invest more with small funds.
Perpetual Contracts
In addition to futures trading, we have also developed perpetual contracts to support the trading of digital currency futures such as BTC, BCH, LTC and ETH to meet the needs of professional traders for high leverage and arbitrage, inter temporal arbitrage and hedging. In the long run, such market is of great positive significance for digital assets.
Options Trading
In August 2019, we successfully launched a new derivatives trading market — options trading, a financial instrument based on futures. Compared with futures trading, options trading features lower risks, helping investors to profit from multiple dimensions.
CoinEx Lending
We launched CoinEx Lending, a wealth management product, which improves our derivatives services and provides users with an additional option for the pursuit of a stable investment. CoinEx Lending will distribute 70% of the platform’s interest from leveraged. Users only need to transfer the idle assets to CoinEx Lending to enjoy daily revenue, further enhancing their asset utilization.
Excavator of quality projects: CoinEx Accelerator
For the past decade since the birth of the blockchain, digital assets and projects have been driving the blockchain to realize its value step by step. As an important exploration of the application of blockchain technology, blockchain projects are often
In 2019, after rigorous screening and in-depth research by the CoinEx Research Institute, the CoinEx Accelerator screened 13 premium blockchain projects including SEELE and BNN for users. These projects have proved excellent in both technology and asset appreciation. Among the ten projects with the highest return on investment according to media statistics in 2019, technology-based SEELE was included in the list with a 400% increase.
At this point, CoinEx has completed the construction of the entire ecosystem for the product system. The cornerstone of the product has been solidified. What we need to do next is to make every function and service perfect.

Third, optimize the team structure and do something interesting with great minds

I once said that I wanted to create a company that is very fun, interesting, and awesome where some great minds are working on something exciting together. I have created the fun and interesting part. The main task of the past year is to find those great minds to join me.
In 2019, the team went through a period of confusion and groping. There are some problems in terms of both staffing and department collaboration. Fortunately, such troubles have been greatly relieved after two organizational structure adjustments.
In September 2019, Eddie, former Marketing Director at Bitmain, officially joined the CoinEx team. Eddie is an all-rounder with extensive experience in market operation and team management. I believe with him working with us, CoinEx will make greater breakthroughs in team management and brand building in the future.
In addition, we have attracted increasing outstanding talents for the past year, and have grown to a team with nearly 100 members. At present, we have established a complete team management system, incentive system and training system. I always believe that only when the team members are united as one and all do a great job, can we provide better services for users.

Fourth, it is the mission of a digital asset service platform to screen high-quality projects: to launch 100 high-quality projects

The abundant types of trading assets serve as the foundation of a digital asset service platform. In the past year, the CoinEx Research Institute has been committed to exploring and screening high-quality projects worldwide, increasing the types and number of tradable assets for users. I am proud to say that, as of December 31, 2019, CoinEx has launched 100 high-quality blockchain projects. We ensure that every project has undergone in-depth research and investigation by the think tank of the Research Institute, and is finally strictly appraised by the coin issuance decision committee before it goes online. We hope that each CoinEx user can avoid unnecessary risks and rest more assured in investment.
In 2020, we will continue to improve the asset list on CoinEx and provide users with global high-quality blockchain projects to further realize the vision of global and professional cryptocurrency exchange service provider.

Fifth, build the most solid cornerstone of the blockchain: CoinEx Chain, CoinEx DEX, and CET

At present, the public chain, the cornerstone of the blockchain industry, remains the bottleneck of the industry’s development, and the key still lies in technological breakthroughs. In 2019, CoinEx also explored the third generation of public chains. Our solution is three dedicated chains in parallel to achieve both performance and flexibility.
On Nov.11 last year, ViaBTC, Bitmain, Matrixport, and Bitcoin.com jointly launched the Mainnet of CoinEx Chain, a milestone in our journey towards the ambition.
CoinEx DEX is the first application scenario of CoinEx Chain. It is the world’s first DEX dedicated public chain developed on the Tendermint consensus protocol and Cosmos SDK, under the leadership of my good friend Jiazhi Jiang, a senior blockchain technology expert. CoinEx DEX is friendly to ordinary users who have zero experience in digital assets, and has made many innovations in applications and wallets.
After CoinEx Chain and CoinEx DEX went online, CET was also given higher value and mission. As the basic currency of the public chain ecosystem, it has more value sources than the income of the CoinEx platform. Now we can use CET to develop tools at CoinEx DEX, to open accounts, to purchase and modify account names, etc.

Sixth, CoinEx’s ecosystem and partners

In the past year, besides the fruitful results in products and ecosystem improvements, CoinEx has also gained many like-minded partners.
Market liquidity team
In 2019, CoinEx further upgraded the market maker’s preferential policies. Market makers on other platforms or other excellent maker strategy teams can directly match CoinEx market makers and enjoy privileges at a negligible rate in CoinEx.
CoinEx Chain nodes
On October 16, 2019, CoinEx Chain officially launched the global Node Election plan. We set off from Shenzhen to places such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Singapore to host offline campaigns. It’s easy to make new acquaintances, yet those who share the same ideals with you are hard to find. So we really cherish the cooperation with dozens of peers such as Matrixport, Hoo, TokenInsight, BTC.com, Bitcoin.com, Ant Mining Pool, Wayi, and NNB in the construction of the CoinEx Chain ecosystem.
CoinEx Ambassadors
Of course, CoinEx cannot grow without a group of special partners around the world — CoinEx Ambassadors. They commit themselves in work such as community building, promotion and product translation. They all contribute their share to CoinEx.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the CoinEx Ambassadors.

Seventh, keep moving forward in 2020

The year 2020 is a very special year. A considerable part of the important national strategic goals are set to be achieved in this year. Based on an intergenerational interval of a decade, we have entered the third generation of the 21st century.
It is also a year of special significance for CoinEx. This year we will comprehensively upgrade our products to further enhance users’ experience, keep launching high-quality assets online at a steady pace to meet users’ more diversified demands for trading assets, accelerate globalization and compliance across the world, and launch a new Ambassador Program to drive the construction of CoinEx’s community.
As for the CoinEx Chain, we will focus on the development of the Smart Chain, perform two hard fork upgrades on the DEX Chain, and introduce high-quality stable coins, Defi and other applications.

Blessings for the Future

The blockchain industry is still in its early stage of development, and huge room for growth is expected in the future. What we have to do is to continuously improve our product and service quality, as well as to enrich asset types to better meet user needs.
Again, I would like to express my gratitude to the users who have shown great patience and support to CoinEx, to the CoinEx Chain nodes who have trusted us enough, to the CoinEx Ambassadors who have contributed a lot to our development, and to partners who have been working with us along the way.
I wish you all the best in the new year!
Haipo Yang, CoinEx CEO

The Next Recession May be Brutal: That’s a Net Positive for Gold and Bitcoin

Prominent gold bull Peter Schiff predicts that the next recession will be brutal, and owning gold or Bitcoin will be a net positive.
The US economy is more robust than it has ever been. With a roaring stock market and decent consumer spending, talk of recession is minimal. However, certain aspects of this growth are cause for investors like Schiff to raise the alarm:
“Today’s revisions to Q3 GDP confirm the U.S. economy is a bubble. GDP ‘growth’ is driven completely by excess consumer and government spending, as the real economy contracts. But such spending is a function of debt, much of which can’t be repaid. The coming bust will be brutal!”
With the S&P 500 pushing record high after record high, stock market traders are as bullish as ever. Such sentiment could make the next crash particularly devastating. In the 2008 financial crash, stocks in a hallmark Wall Street firm, Bear Stearns, went from over $100 to $2 within a week. Investing in stocks can be great, but when it rains, it pours.
Accurately predicting the next recession is often a hit-and-miss game even for the top analysts. Even those who predicted the financial crisis of 2008 couldn’t pinpoint with precision when it would begin. Regardless, this does not discredit anyone who tells investors to be cautious. The issues Schiff raises are pertinent to the macro-economic stability of the American and global economies.
Even those who make the right predictions about an upcoming recession have no respite if they do nothing about it. Building a defensive portfolio is one way to absorb such shocks. In recent decades, gold has distinguished itself as the premier safe-haven asset.

Gold Prices During a Recession

Gold has historically performed well during times of financial uncertainty. Naturally, recessions are the extreme end of such turmoil, meaning that gold prices should peak. In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, gold prices rose dramatically and peaked in 2011 at the height of quantitative easing measures from major central banks.
If a brutal crisis such as Schiff predicts could happen comes to pass, gold prices should ease past the $2,000 mark. Gold has millennia of reputation and scarcity that makes it the perfect safe-haven asset in such a crisis. Therefore, investors see it as a valuable asset to hedge against recessions. If you are already in one, it can provide cover against further negative slides. This stability is why investors like Schiff advise that traders have anywhere between 10–30% weighting in gold. Whether split between physical gold and mining equities, gold-backed ETFs, or any other arrangement, gold has a track record of weathering the storm.

Bitcoin as a Store of Value Asset

Using the phrase ‘store of value’ for Bitcoin may sound like an oxymoron. After all, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are notorious for volatility in their few years of existence. In the 2018 calendar year, Bitcoin went from about $18,000 down to about $3,400 only to rebound to over $10,000 by mid-2019.
However, one trait gives Bitcoin a silver lining: decentralization. Bitcoin is a decentralized, pseudonymous network that is independent of central bank control. Accordingly, Bitcoin has the eye of many investors who seek to diversify their holdings.
So far, there is little evidence as to whether Bitcoin will trade like a safe-haven asset during a full-blown crisis. The fact that Bitcoin does not have a direct correlation to the mainstream is what drives interest. Bitcoin prices are purely market-driven as no one controls supply like regular fiat.
Therefore, some speculate that in the event of a financial crisis, investors will flock to Bitcoin just like gold. Recent history suggests that temporary Bitcoin investors hold the coin for speculative purposes rather than a store of value. Will this change soon?
It could be that investors allocate money to risky assets when they feel comfortable about investing generally. Therefore, there is a distinct possibility that investors could shy away from Bitcoin during times of economic turbulence.
What will transpire during an actual recession is difficult to predict. Bitcoin may have insulation from mainstream stocks, but bearish sentiment can affect investor sentiment either way. You can have a situation where investors hedge Bitcoin more or avoid high-risk assets in general. It will take time before Bitcoin has the stability and reputation of gold.
The maturity of crypto markets between now and when an actual recession hits is also a factor. Bitcoin can be a viable alternative to gold, but a lot of stars have to align.

Gold’s Edge

Based on current economic and policy trends, gold is in the perfect position to have a net positive from a recession. Incredibly, even with the S&P 500 and other stock market indices up by a lot, gold has had a strong bull run in 2019.
The macro-economic factors that have fueled gold prices include geopolitical tensions and low interest rates. All through 2020, these factors will still loom large.
Gold enjoys a stability that Bitcoin holders can only dream of. Even in the rare event that an institution or person dumps a significant amount of gold in the market, the net price effect will not be as drastic as with other assets.
Demand for gold is only getting stronger with the resilience it is showing. Central banks in emerging and struggling economies are adding rapidly to their gold holdings to hedge against currency slides. Accordingly, the likes of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, and Turkey have added significantly to their gold reserves in recent years.
Part of this demand stems from an effort to reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency. Russia and China are dealing with sanctions and a trade war, respectively, while many developing countries have stuttering currencies. Gold provides a useful alternative to store value for such countries.
Additionally, Islamic countries like Iran, Malaysia, Turkey, and Qatar are considering a gold barter system among themselves to hedge against future economic sanctions. Iran continues to bear the brunt of punitive sanctions while Qatar almost experienced an economic shutdown after a Saudi orchestrated blockade in 2018. The deliberations began after an economic summit led by Malaysian PM Mahathir Mohamed from the 18th to the 21st of December 2019.
Therefore, gold enjoys a universal credibility that Bitcoin and crypto can only dream about. When looking to store value or hedge against a stock crash, gold is still the premier asset to hold.

Gold to Surge in the Coming Decade

Many analysts see the tremendous upside of holding gold now. Paul Schatz, Heritage Capital president, recently touched on this sentiment in comments to Yahoo Finance:
“I think gold’s going to $2,500, $3,000 an ounce in the 2020s because the climate — the landscape for gold is so hugely supportive.”
Investors see the value of using bullion as a hedge. Even though gold cannot replace government bonds entirely in portfolio diversification, the case for reallocating a portion of normal bond exposure to gold is as strong as ever.
Bullion has had a steady decade of growth through the 2010s. It has performed better than most assets, save for outliers like cryptocurrencies. Stocks have rallied in the past decade, but a combination of high debt levels and low interest rates places the value of fiat at a precarious place. These factors have allowed gold to maintain solid prices even through periods of relative economic prosperity.
For those who distrust fiat and central bank management of fiat, hedging gold is a no-brainer. Having at least 10% gold in your portfolio is a decent approach to start the next decade. Investing in bullion, gold mining equity, or gold-backed ETFs provides useful diversification to your portfolio. With digital gold-backed tokens now available in the market, you don’t need to worry about the hassle of storing and transporting the gold. Either way, investing in gold now puts you in a great position entering the new decade.

Qoo10 launches blockchain-powered marketplace with cryptocurrency

Ecommerce firm Qoo10 has unveiled a new blockchain-based ecommerce marketplace and a new cryptocurrency to go with it. Named QuuBe(pronounced “cube”), the platform closely resembles Qoo10’s flagship marketplace and is available on desktop and mobile. Currently on beta, the marketplace will fully launch on January 1, 2019.
The unique selling point of QuuBe is its use of smart contracts, a blockchain feature that automates the verification of transactions between different parties – in this case, merchants and shoppers.
QuuBe’s blockchain network was built on the Ethereum protocol by an in-house team of 20 developers based in South Korea. The platform employs 20 more staff in Singapore to handle sales, marketing, and operations. QuuBe is enabled through the use of Q*coin, a private blockchain token created by Qoo10 for the marketplace. Purchases on QuuBe can only be made via this token.
According to Qoo10 CEO Ku Young Bae, QuuBe can better serve customers with more competitive prices, thanks to a new revenue model. By removing the 10 percent merchant fee and payment gateway fees that traditional marketplaces charge, merchants can compete with other ecommerce platforms.

QuuBe will instead offer advertising spaces for merchants to bid for on its website and app.
Headquartered in Singapore, Qoo10 has 6 million daily active users in countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Hong Kong. The company has set its sights on Southeast Asia, but its blockchain goals aren’t just about embracing the technology. Ku also hopes the platform will serve unbanked markets such as Indonesia and Myanmar.
“You usually [put your] money in the bank; you wouldn’t put money into a private company’s [mobile wallet],” observess Ku. “The company could go bankrupt, they could just change the data, or [money] can be stolen. Unless trust is built, you can’t be very sure that top-ups into the wallet can be the same. Those hurdles are sorted out by blockchain because the blockchain wallet is not something that we can change and access. Only you can access it.”
This element of decentralized regulation, according to Ku, could go a long way in enabling unbanked communities. With Q*coins available for purchase in 7-Eleven convenience stores, vendors could start their own businesses and buy goods even without access to a financial institution.

The promise of blockchain

Qoo10 aims for US$1 billion in gross merchandising volume by 2020 – a lofty goal, considering blockchain adoption is still in its nascent stages. Many firms are struggling to adopt the technology, while only 0.71 percent of the world’s population are using cryptocurrencies.

But experts think that the idea of a decentralized ecommerce marketplace exemplifies the promise of blockchain.
“It is easy to imagine why such an alliance (between blockchain and ecommerce) might occur, with the removal of gatekeepers between buyer and seller, merchants, consumers, and manufacturers stand to benefit from more cost-efficient transactions,” says Xinshu Dong, CEO of blockchain platform Zilliqa. “As ecommerce moves to the blockchain, the redistribution of power – no longer the sole property of retail giants – will allow more collaborative, creative, and competitive ways of business. Smart contracts will also improve friction points throughout supply chains as transactions undergo a methodological process of verification and execution.”
Despite the struggles of adoption, Qoo10 isn’t alone in its quest. US startup OpenBazaar has raised a total of US$4.2 million with investors Andreessen Horowitz and Blue Yard Capital to launch their decentralized marketplace. Vietnam-based startup Tipo also released a whitepaper in September 2018 for their business-to-peer-to-peer (B2P2P) marketplace.

Stable and steady wins the race

Cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin have also acted as the poster tokens for volatility, making them unsuitable for transactional use. To avoid subjecting customers to that kind of unpredictability, Qoo10 uses the US dollar as the point of reference for its token’s value. Initially sold at US$1, Q*coins are subject to revisions at every million tokens sold to allow for appreciation.
This is very similar to stablecoins or cryptocurrencies that hold stable values, which have been steadily increasing in popularity. In December 2017, stablecoin Tether was briefly one of the top four cryptocurrencies in the world. New York-based Paxos also launched a token pegged to the US dollar.

But unlike Tether and Paxos, Q*coins will be held on a private blockchain, which means that the onus is on Qoo10 to manually adjust the token values.
Zhuling Chen, co-founder of Aelf, says that the stability of the token is important when targeting mass market users.
“Leveraging blockchain, the ownership of [stable] cryptocurrency is fully secured, and transactions can be done in a fast and cheap manner. It avoids the volatility in token value, making it easier for customers and merchants to accept,” points out Chen. “To some extent, it is similar to a cash voucher for ecommerce, but in digital form and can be extended easily to other parties to adopt it.”

Currency conversion on Qoo10 / Photo credit: Qoo10
The risk, however, lies in governance: is the value of the token being managed in an effective and transparent way? Qoo10 plans to gradually increase the conversion rate as more Q*coins are purchased, as a form of value-add for early buyers. For example, it will raise the value of the token to US$1.01 after the first 1 million are sold, and then US$1.02 after the second million, and so on.
When asked if it’s looking at opening QuuBe to other cryptocurrencies on the market, Qoo10 answered in the negative.
“In establishing QuuBe, the team ultimately decided on creating its own token so that it can maintain control over the token’s value while still providing users with the unique benefits that blockchain technology has to offer,” explains a Qoo10 spokesperson. “Many established coins today are still highly volatile, and the extreme fluctuations in value that can occur are not in line with QuuBe and Qoo10’s objectives of protecting both sellers and buyers as the bridge between these two parties.”
The spokesperson also cited limited transaction speeds of public blockchains and expensive block verification fees as reasons to go private.

The art of adoption

Qoo10’s interest in building a blockchain-backed marketplace is encouraging, but it also raises concerns about adoption, contends Anson Zeall, co-founder and CEO of CoinPip and chairman of the Association of Cryptocurrency Enterprises and Startups Singapore. Lower prices in the marketplace could work, but it would take an effective marketing campaign to get more users onboard.
“I’m OK with the credit card system – I shop on Qoo10 myself,” says Zeall. “But what would make me switch to token are the incentives, the freebies.”
He cited GrabPay’s aggressive marketing campaign as an example of a costly but effective way to get mass market users onto a new payment method.
“It’s great that they’re experimenting. Qoo10’s got a lot to lose; they’ve raised a big round, brought in investors. But their intentions are good – they’re not doing this to raise funds, they’re not doing an ICO,” adds Zeall.
With a tough learning curve lying ahead for many of QuuBe’s potential merchants, it remains to be seen if the lack of merchant fees is enough to incentivize them to join in. Qoo10 says that majority of its existing users are between 25 and 40 years old, indicating that it has a more mature following compared to other marketplaces.
Nonetheless, Ku is confident that the Qoo10 brand will go a long way in inspiring consumer trust among new customers. With 400,000 products listed, QuuBe will also launch promotional activities, which include giving away more than US$100,000 worth of Q*coins. Users can also look forward to using the tokens at physical stores around Singapore over the next two quarters.
“At the end of the day, it’s all about building trust,” says Ku.

An Eventful Year: Over 75 days of NEO Meetups, Workshops and Hackathons in 2018

NEO has been very busy this year. In addition to the core development progress, we’ve seen a level of community building/outreach that no other project in blockchain can seem to match. I thought it would be cool to look back on all the events and hackathons that NEO hosted or supported over the course of this year.
It should be noted that I am not including any large-scale blockchain conferences (other than the NEO DevCon), no matter how notable. Any project leader can show up to an event and hold a few interviews, or offer a few sound bites in a speech. This is a post about the NEO team’s tangible efforts to finance and encourage decentralized community development by hosting dedicated NEO workshops and meetups around the world. To this end, I have attempted (no promises, this was a lot of data to go through) to omit all events without direct support/representatives from the NEO core team (sorry Dylan, I’ll buy you a beer at DevCon!)
I think this is a huge indicator as to the motives of the core NEO team and is something far too few people know about. There is still this ridiculous notion floating around that NEO is reliant on the Chinese government to succeed, despite the massive global community that has been built to support the platform’s long-term success.
Two things to note before the list. Firstly, a lot of these events would not have been possible without the hard work of various NEO dApp project/dev community leaders and other community members. By no means do I wish to undermine their contributions by giving full credit to the NEO core. A lot of people pitched in to make these things happen.
Secondly, I’d also like to give a huge shout out to NEO News Today for its consistent and excellent coverage of all news within the NEO ecosystem. This list would not have been possible without it. For those of you who do not know, I started writing for NNT in July and joined as an editor in October. I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a kind and talented group of individuals. I have much to learn from each of them.
Without further ado, here’s the list.
January
8th: NEO Meetup in Dublin, Ireland
10th: NEO Developer Meetup in London, UK
11th: NEO Developer Workshop in Hamburg, Germany
12th: Blockchain Mania #6 in Hamburg, Germany

That’s over 75 days of NEO events this year (and I definitely missed some). Not bad eh. Of course, this is only a list of events. We’ve also seen solid progress on the core infrastructure, the formation of multiple new dev communities, and various impressive projects joining the network.
This is the reality of what progress towards decentralization looks like. The NEO community outreach has gone far above and beyond what any other blockchain project has achieved (to my knowledge). Sure, there’s value to a pile of partnerships, but do not mistake those partnerships for realistic progression towards the future of blockchain. The goal of blockchain is to put power back into the hands of the people and to hand off control of these platforms to their respective communities. It seems no project is prioritizing this on the same level as NEO.
At this point, it feels like it wouldn’t particularly matter what happens in China. The NEO team and broader community have spent vast amounts of time and resources educating developers about NEO. Progress on this platform is not tied to the core team. That is the heart of decentralization, and it is why NEO will not be easily stopped.

AMA Wrap-up & Summary

A very big thank you to everyone who participated in FinNexus’s first ever AMA session in the Wanchain Telegram! We were very pleased with the level of enthusiasm from AMA participants! We’re sorry to say that we weren’t able to answer every single question as we received close to 80 questions, and many of them were similar. However, we did our best to identify all the unique questions and answer them all as fully as possible. We have also selected the top ten 🏆🏆🏆winning questions🏆🏆🏆 of the AMA who’s askers will be receiving $20.00 worth of FNC each at the Wanchain address they submitted after the token generation event scheduled in January.
(Feel free to ask any other questions in response to this post!)

TOP TEN QUESTIONS:

1.🏆 What’s special about Finnexus vs. others in the space? @oluap5773
Our closest competitors are traditional financial institutions which offer low risk, non blockchain based stable return and fixed return products. Our other competitors would be platforms such as Binance and Compound which offer centralized or decentralized stable return products based on crypto lending businesses.
FinNexus has a unique focus on assets with real value built on blockchain infrastructure, which is rare in our other DeFi projects. Unlike Binance and Compound whose stable return products are based on crypto lending businesses, the assets we issue include those based on both real world and crypto businesses, which gives users access to reliable assets which are not correlated with the performance of crypto markets. And unlike traditional institutions, all our products are built on blockchain, which enables them to make use of all the blockchain’s advantages.
2. 🏆 What do you think of the future of DeFi in this space? @salmanmbstu96
Our expectation of the future DeFi is mainly on the application level rather than a technical one.
  1. Borrowing and Lending cannot be everything about DeFi. The growth of the DeFi should be largely diversified to other assets and business models.
  2. The risks in the DeFi world is similar, in other words, most of the DeFi models are facing the same systematic risks, which are with high risk and high expected return characteristics. In cases when the bitcoin collapses, every businesses and scenarios will be affected. This is not healthy.
  3. The DeFi applications are not so user-friendly. One has to take some time to learn how to deal with one decentralized product.
A leading project in the future should have the ability to solve the problems above. Blockchain is a great technology, while the combination with finance cannot avoid the basic logic and be isolated from the successful scenarios and models we built. Different models here mean different application scenarios in the financial world, like the equity rights, debenture rights, derivatives or other beneficiary rights.
The centralized or decentralized cannot be questions like yes or no. During the process of development, there may be something in between. On one hand it is built in a decentralized way and smart contracts are triggered automatically; while on the other hand, it is adapting the realistic that some parts of transactions or measurements must be under centralized regulations. We would like to call it Open Finance, as it is open to both the crypto assets on the blockchain, and the assets off the chain while restructuring their parts in a decentralized way.
In the future, we believe that there will be leading projects, that can bridge the blockchain technology and real world assets, diversify the systematic risks while attracting more users, and be user friendly that the nonprofessional may easily operate.
3. 🏆 Give me reason’s why should I invest in #FinNexus? @cryptococuk01
I hope you read the write paper of FinNexus and got understandings on what FinNexus is about to do. FNC will be the sole token in the FinNexus ecosystem. It is a kind of hybrid token, like a utility token but also benefiting from FinNexus development.
FinNexus will work as the financial product supermarket, Broker, Investment Banker or something alike. It will gain revenue directly from its operations.
Holders of FNC is eligible to the following rights or benefits (will be explained in details on the FinNexus official websites):
1)Rights of higher rate of returns on tokenized products; 2)Rights to invest in tokenized products with lower cost; 3)Benefits on the discount on the transaction commissions; 4)Derivative rights, like early settlement, resale or interest swaps; 5)Rights to interact with WAN; 6)Benefits on the FinNexus’ development; the revenue of FinNexus is from: Underwriting; Investment banking; Market making; Transaction commissions; Investment in tokenized products.
4. 🏆 How can FinNexus goal be explained in layman’s terms? @iamthethirdkind
You can actually get a clue from the project’s name ‘FinNexus’. The name is quite straightforward. FinNexus is the combination of the words ‘Finance’ and ‘Nexus’. It means financial connections. I will explain that in 3 aspects:
  1. To asset owners
Finance here includes the ‘traditional’ and the ‘decentralized’ and traditional finance is only traditional compared to DeFi. Here FinNexus is aiming at providing a solution, which we call it a protocol, where one can link the traditional financial world with the blockchain technology in an efficient, transparent and feasible way. For example, one with assets that have good expected cash flows will find a way to easily tokenize the assets on FinNexus.
  1. To users FinNexus will act as a financial product supermarket. Right now, the DeFi world has a problem that almost all of the crypto assets or financial products bear the same systematic risks, which means when the Bitcoin price collapses, every kind will join the plummet and even the financial models will cease to be valid. One of the reasons is that all assets are purely crypto-born. Moreover, the crypto interface is not so easy for a nonprofessional to operate. FinNexus’ goal is to provide diversification and convenience with assets of real value. Users will be able to invest in assets with various risks and returns here, and can easily choose to their preferences like in a supermarket.
  2. FinNexus Itself
FinNexus is concentrating in the application level, with the help of the two initiators. It will not operate or manage assets directly and will act as a channel or a hub, where supplies and needs are paired, while in later stages, it will strive to build the protocols or standards for all of these tokenizations and transactions.
5. 🏆 What are tokenized digital assets in FinNexus? How is it different from current digital assets? @hg144
The FinNexus team have done researches on the tokenization of real world assets. Right now, only a few groups like the credit assets, supply chain finance or other sub-dividable beneficial rights seem most feasible. These tokenized products may bear characteristics like equities, debentures, derivatives or other beneficiary rights.
The noticeable differences lie in the nature of the products. The returns are from the cashflow of the real world assets, rather than mining, staking, speculating, etc. FinNexus combines the decentralized and centralized means. The tokens have advantages on chain, while the product design and disclosure draw lessons from traditional finance.
Apart from that, there will also be products totally on chain, triggered by smart contracts, like crypto futures, options, and ETFs, with user-friendly interfaces.
6. 🏆 What are the advantages and disadvantages of FinNexus when developing in a large market like China? Do you have plans to develop other regions? @hiampluto
Advantages:
(1) The blockchain industrial environment and public opinion guidance has changed since China’s President Xi Jinping recent announcement. The word blockchain has been mentioned in social media time and time again, and almost everyone is trying to find out what it is. President made it clear that the country would encourage enterprises applying the technology into real world scenarios.
(2) China has the largest population and made great technological progress over the last decade. Blockchain projects, communities, exchanges, token funds, medias, and other participants have established a complete and dynamic ecosystem. FinNexus is easy to access to these resources.
(3) Financial market in China has been making great progress, which provides FinNexus with adequate talents, financial products and potential users.
(4) The two initiators Wanchain and SuperAtom (incubated by Cheetah Mobile) are all based in China. They both give FinNexus big financial, human-power and community support, with minimum communication cost in the same city.
Disadvantages:
(1) Activities like ICOs or other forms of public fund-raising are still restricted;
(2) The government’s attitude towards the security-like tokens and tokenization is still not clear;
(3) Language and time zone discrepancy may cause difficulties.
FinNexus is aiming to build a global open finance protocol. Blockchain should be boundless, and so will be our users and assets. Our first product’s basic asset is in SE Asia. We are now building teams, grouping communities, and recruiting regional ambassadors. Also, we are making continuous and effective interactions with the global communities of Wanchain and Bitrue.
7. 🏆 FinNexus’s team consists of experienced and brilliant individuals. What made them to unite together and work in unison for the fulfilment of it and how does it act as an advantage compared to other projects in terms of brainstorming and guidance? @cryptollll
Though key members of FinNexus team seem to have different educational backgrounds or working experiences, we come together with the same beliefs and goals. The same purpose has united us together and after grinding-in over one and a half years, we are working together energetically and harmoniously, which provides a foundation for the success of FinNexus. It is not the first time we work together and we knew each other with for long time. The details of resumes are on the website.
8. 🏆 Many blockchain projects and companies focus on making very complex systems, say they will revolutionize the society, and help the unbanked. Since you work directly in the area, how realistic do you think such statements are? @lucbazanse
The team has been working together for more than a year already. FinNexus is a project at the layer 3 level in the blockchain system, targeting at the application usage. The team believes that no matter how innovative or revolutionary a new technology is, if it fails to be conveniently applied in everyday use or have efficient or cost-saving solutions to users, we cannot call it a successful technology.
Therefore, we will build our application on top of the successful public chains and concentrate in providing financially practical and risk diversified products and user friendly applications. We doubt that the unbanked can be helped by a complex system. Unbanked group of people usually exist in the less developed regions that lack basic infrastructure. They may not well educated or lack the basic understanding of the technology or even ideas of modern financial or banking system.
Therefore, the application is most important. A successful project should provide them with friendly interfaces and convenient accesses, aiming directly to their basic needs, no matter how complex or innovative the technology is. That’s what FinNexus is trying to do, to provide what is needed the most in a simple and understandable way.
9. 🏆 Which way you will offer token sale?
We create a new way of the token sales together with launching our products. FinNexus’ will issue its CFNC (convertible FNC), which gives holders the right to convert into ABT in the conversion period. The holders of ABT are eligible to the benefit with an annualized rate of return at over 10%. ABT is called the Asset Backed Token in general, in specific, the return of the token is backed by the consumer loan assets in Indonesia, with the originator SuperAtom, which is initiated by the NYSE listed company Cheetah Mobile, as the basic asset. It has a traditional hierarchical design and the ABT is the token in the senior tranche. The details will be disclosed in the Offering Circular on the FinNexus website later.
We strongly recommend the interested blockchainers to check the details on www.finnexus.io
10. 🏆 Can you tell more about road-map for future developments? @toanphamhd
In phase one, before the end of 2019 or early in 2020, FinNexus is introducing ICTO, combining the fund raising process with its products. Instruments with the essentials of ABT are likely to be one of the major products offered to users, with different systematic risks from the crypto assets. Before the first quarter of 2020, other products like the borrowing and lending, hedging, ETF and staking are likely to be issued, as well as the other schemes of the ABT products. FinNexus will also cooperate with at least three of the token exchanges, crypto wallets or other channels as the sale portals.
In phase two, before the end of 2020, FinNexus will search for the qualified assets globally and combine the blockchain technology with the real world application scenarios in vaster occasions. And FinNexus work with other mainnet projects to launch its new products and interactions with the chain tokens. Moreover, FinNexus will facilitate the trade of the ABT and other similar products on the OTC market. The experience of the traditional financial market shows that the OTC transactions of these products have even higher volume than the bidding mode in the exchanges.
In the third phase, in three years, FinNexus’ goal is to build an open finance protocol. This protocol is established on Layer 3, targeted on the application level. It will provide the basic standard for the tokenization and transaction for all types of assets, both in traditional finance and in the crypto world. All assets that provide future returns will be programmable with blockchain in the future and FinNexus is defining a protocol that provides the standards and convenience in realization. Different assets may apply to various requirements in details, but the common language lying in is what FinNexus is chasing for.
While in the coming days, we would expect 1) the release of the detailed conversion and subscription rules on the website; 2) the release of the ABT offering circular to give a detailed explanation on the risks and returns; 3) setting the timetable for offering and listing of FNC.

RUNNER UP QUESTIONS

11. What is the current development progress of the project, and when is the main online release? @btc4life76
The first product will be released together with ICTO process, details of which you may check on the FinNexus website. Right now, the product is under the final stage of development and the team are working on the necessary information disclosure materials and the design of tokens on Wanchain. The planned release time will be before the end of this year or early next year.
12. “What are the recent change in high-level strategy in product design and development? How will it help the #FinNexus to move further with the safest & fastest Blockchain technology?” @ahmetumit08
FinNexus is a project built on layer 3 and concentrates on technological application. ‘We are the portal to the users and we need to make it simple, convenient, understandable and transparent’.
The advantage does not lie in the sophistication of the underlying technology, but in the application level. To establish an Open Finance Protocol, FinNexus has to move earlier and faster than the others, and at present, it is the first in the industry to put forward this concept.
In product development, we will make each code be used in real use case and keep improving in practice. In the beginning, we will built a layer 3 for assets tokenization and distribution, fee and interests distribution, buying and withdrawing. Users (business users) do not need to connect public chains, but use our SDK or API to interact with different chains. Recently we are focusing on protocols with smart contracts that asset tokenization could be easily deployed by FNX layer 3. And then we will focus on the protocol of decentralized token distribution. That means anyone who wants to sell assets tokens in FinNexus only need to download our SDK or connect our API.
13. How many different types of assets can be expected in the first quarter of 2020 . What will be the jurisdiction of assets and how will FinNexus avoid people from holding assets from restricted jurisdictions? @anon
As a project incubated by SuperAtom, the UangMe assets will work as an initiator, and it has the potential of the amount of 100M USD. In the meantime, similar assets in Malaysia are under discussion. In addition, there will be other types of products the users may expect in the first quarter of 2020, like crypto borrowing and lending products, easy-operating crypto-currency derivatives, ETF products, staking related products, etc., and they are all under development right now.
We have a legal team that help us deal with the jurisdiction issues. We will monitor the changing legal environment around the main countries and regions. KYC procedures are necessary for avoiding investors from holding assets from restricted jurisdictions.
14. How FinNexus and Wanchain both can get benefitted using each others protocol? @salmanmbstu96
FinNexus is the layer 3 which can make users, especially business users, to use Wanchain easily in financial aspects. And FinNexus focuses on different assets, that could grant Wanchain with more applications to run. In most of financial scenarios, multi-coin will be used, so we can use the cross-chain protocol of Wanchain. If Wanchain protocol is like a highway road, FinNexus protocol is working as an assembly line.
15. What do you think about Defi Landscape right now? @paraphan1992
Now, many DeFi projects are limited to the products and applications with the pure crypto assets. They can be highly decentralized and automated, but is it enough?
1) Borrowing and Lending is the first natural DeFi application scenario and contributes to over 90% of the application scenarios. It cannot be everything about DeFi. The growth of the DeFi should be largely diversified to other assets and business models.
2) The risks in the DeFi world is similar, in other words, most of the DeFi models are facing the same systematic risks, which are with high risk and high expected return characteristics. In cases when the bitcoin collapses, every businesses and scenarios will be affected. This is not healthy. Tokens transactions with high risks and the relating credit activities cannot be the whole world of DeFi. FinNexus is trying to introduce financial products with different types and levels of risks and expected returns, to enrich the products desperately needed in the industry.
3) The DeFi applications are not so user-friendly. One has to take some time to learn how to deal with one decentralized product. FinNexus aims at providing something that is transparent with the information needed for the investors to make judgment while easy to handle.
Right now, Maker is trying to move to Multi-Collateral Dai (MCD), a big step to make the DeFi model richer and healthier. Also they introduce Dai Savings Rate (DSR), which may have the potential to be regarded as one of the standard rates. In the future, we may witness wider real world assets and application scenarios in DeFi and that is the path that DeFi is bound to follow.
16. Can FinNexus support smart contracts? @btc4life76
The answer is yes, smart contracts will play important roles in the FinNexus products. The first phase of products will be built on Wanchain and according to the ICTO rules, the ABT conversion and the future payment of principal and interest of ABT will all be supported by smart contracts. Again, for details of ICTO please check our website. In later phases ,we will develop other products based on ETH or other chains according to the users’ requirements and asset characteristics; and smart contracts will be richer and more diversified.
17. Why do we need DEFI? What is the new thing that DeFi bring to us? Was your project born for that? @oluap5773
A: The decentralized blockchain technology needs application scenarios, and the finance needs the innovative technology to solve its own problems, thus here comes the merge of the two.
Bitcoin brings the blockchain technology into our sight and until now, it has 70% of the total value of crypto assets. Bitcoin is born to facilitate the financial transactions and most of the project henceforth cannot be isolated from the financial fields. There is an inevitable bond since the birth of the technology, and finance is always the natural experimental field of blockchain.
The problem of information asymmetry is always puzzling investors and regulators. Most of the solution came from a centralized way from the authorities before, while the result was much diversified among regions. With the emergence of blockchain, it provides an alternative solution to this long-lasting issue. It is trustworthy, non-modifiable and self-proved. Moreover, it is bondless and anti-authorized, which can largely reduce the cost of international transactions while enhancing the efficiency. The technology is self-organized, decentralized and automated. DeFi has the potential to change the governance structure and investment behavior in the financial world.
Tens of years ago, the internet has brought finance efficiency and popularization. Today blockchain is about to change the financial system again. It introduces the participants into a new territory that is bondless, decentralized, trustworthy, and equal. It will largely decrease the cost of centralized supervision, the risk of information asymmetry and the barrier among economic entities. Many business formats will change concerning the technology, including the economic entities, governance authorities, market intermediaries, exchanges and the transaction behavior of investors. For example, in the future, it is expected that the basic bookkeeping of a business entity will be on blockchain, and all of the operational activities like procurement, production, sales, inventories, invoices, taxations, employments, etc., will be dealt with and recorded in a decentralized way. Therefore, the auditors’ jobs are shifting from the bookkeeping test of accuracy to the verification of the validity of the chain.
Of course, FinNexus is born to be part of the big change, and we strive to be one of the driving forces of the financial decentralization progress. The goal of FinNexus is to build an Open Finance Protocol. The protocol is like a channel or a standard, to allow all kinds of assets, whether decentralized or centralized, whether with characteristics of equity, debenture, derivative or other hybrid, to find its path towards tokenization with the blockchain technology. By maintaining the basic business logic and learning from the traditional financial model, FinNexus will combine with the advantages of the blockchain technology, to make investors truly benefit from decentralization.
18. Which target users does FinNexus aim to serve? Will its technology be easy for participants to use but still ensure open, transparent and equal way? @paraphan1992
FinNexus aims to serve those who know blockchain and have invested in crypto assets or DeFi products, those who know real world investment but little about blockchain, and those who know little about crypto assets or financial investment but interested in the blockchain technology and curious on the virtual assets.
The meaning of ‘Nexus’ has many parts, and one is to make connections with different market participants. FinNexus will work through protocols and try to act as a channel. In future stages, it will make connections with the OTC markets providing fiat and crypto currency exchanges. Through these protocols, non-crypto users will be able to invest in the FinNexus products.
As FinNexus is built on Layer 3, the protocol will be built combining the decentralized and centralized solution. User-friendliness is a must. By means of easy interfaces, full information disclosure and integrated protocols, users with various degree of knowledge and different risk tolerance are able to get their suitable investment, easily and transparently.
whether decentralization or centralization, are means not targets.
Openness, transparency and equality are necessary to lower credit risks in financial activities. The subscription, transaction, interaction and distribution of financial products will be on chain in a decentralized way, implemented by smart contracts; while the information disclosure, real assets collateral and basic assets operation will be off chain in a centralized way. FinNexus protocols will work to achieve such goals.

Kratora Kratom Vendor Review

The brand “Kratora” was built up in 2012, and today it is among top vendors of Kratom. The regular users of Kratora proclaim it is a value attempting alternative. On the main look, the site appears client inviting. It is anything but difficult to locate a specific item here, and there are such vast numbers of things to investigate.

Kratora- the online kratom seller, offers the same day conveyance, and it never comes up short on stock whenever. The area of their head office isn’t referenced; however, you can get some information about it at kratora customer support centre. The general population at Kratora buckle down to source a portion of the absolute best items available. If you are regularly used to discovering kratom that isn’t strong and abandons you with sick emotions, this is not something you should stress over here. Indeed, numerous individuals who have utilised the item have wondered about the way that they can take a little portion of this brand when contrasted with others, which implies they can make their buy last any longer than anticipated.

Everybody does not have a similar inclination, and there are different strains accessible to speak to a full scope of clients. Similarly, as with any plant item. Distinctive strains offer the client diverse outcomes. Most organisations that sell this sort of item could never make an offer this way, yet the general population behind Kratora are confident to the point that you will be satisfied that they wouldn’t fret setting their cash where their mouth is.

Kratora vendor review

They offers a few diverse red vein strains of kratom.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading down nearly 5% at its current price of $8,850, which marks a notable drop from its 24-hour highs of $9,300.
Prior to today’s drop, Bitcoin has been caught in a relatively tight trading range between $9,000 and $9,500 for a couple of weeks, and neither bulls nor bears had been able to incur enough strength to push the crypto out of this trading range until early this morning when bears forced it below its lower range boundary at $9,000.
In the time since its drop, BTC has shown no sign of slowing its decent, as it continued to slowly grind lower as the morning dragged on.
